                  Recent Security Camera Installation in Surrey BC for a strata condo complex low rise.

 

 

SCOPE OF WORK

 

                Original security camera installation for this low rise was never done to a quality standard. All though the building was only 5 years old there was many corners cut in the development process. Cameras were out of date even for the time of the installation only 5 years ago. Strata council was not happy with the performance of the security camera system they inherited from the developer.

 

                The job consisted of replacing 40 existing outdated security cameras and adding 11 new security camera locations. Wiring was also a mix of wire types. Cat5E was used for all the security cameras from floor 1-4, however, in the parkade, they had used the old RG59 coax cable . This posed a problem because it would have been an enormous amount of work to try to rewire the entire parkade. Especially since the wire was all pulled through core line and most pipes were shard wiring with the entryphone and card access systems.

 

SOLUTION

 

               To avoid an enormous amount of work and money to try to replace all wiring. Which would have also shut down there entire building access for a long period of time, a solution was required.

 

             In this case, to still be able to install IP cameras using the old RG59 type wiring, we chose to use LINOVISION'S IP OVER COAX extenders. These devices can not only send network communication over RG59 or RG6 coax wire, but also POE to both power and communicate to the IP camera over a single COAX cable. IP OVER COAX extenders are a miracle component in this type of situation and saved this job from not being affordable, accomplished, or both.

 

             In the end, the result was 51 new VEWTEK IP security cameras and new NVR's, using 5MP resolution on the common floors and 8MP resolution in the parkade. The strata council president was over the top happy with the end result and ecstatic he did not need to use the old analogue HIKVISION system anymore which he was very frustrated with.
